Nostalgia

I love it when people on facebook scan old pictures.  I just spent some time looking at old camp photos from the nineties.  Wow.  Even things that were challenging at the time are sweet memories now.  Things always seem more special in retrospect.  Maybe because we can't go back.  Time moves on and someday these days will be the cherished memories I look back on. 
I also stumbled upon the page of my late uncle, Alan.  Those memories are still healing.  I miss you.

Booksafe

Today I am going to be crafty. I am going to make a hidden compartment in a little used book. I will first glue the pages together, then cut a section out of the middle in which to hide things.

I am using a book that I don't read anymore.  It needs to have some thickness so that there is room to hide things.

I am using a paint brush to "paint" the sides of the book with Elmer's glue.  There are other glues that will work just as well, if not better, but this is what I had on hand.  It is important to put a separate piece of paper towards the beginning of the book so that you don't just end up gluing the whole thing shut.  Also, tuck in the back flap of the dust jacket so that it can be glued in place.

Tonsils Suck

I am so glad that I don't have mine anymore!  Or, more precisely, I will be glad that I don't have tonsils when my throat finally heals.

Another Blog

Yay, I am starting another blog!  My plan is to dump my creative juices here.  Ew, that sounds kinda gross.  I am a teacher on summer break and have lots of time for stuff.  I am also going slightly stir crazy and want direction in my life.  Well, not my whole life, maybe just until after Labor day.  I have been feeling crafty lately so I plan to post my efforts here.
I like to go on eBay and type in 'blue' to the search bar.  There are a lot of fun things to be found when you sort by 'Price plus shipping; lowest first'.  Tons of fun cheap things that start at $0.01 with free shipping.  Mostly things that are posted by start up companies who are just trying to get their positive feedback ratings up.  I am happy to help someone in China build their business if they are going to send me something for one penny.  Total.
I have been watching a lot of television shoes through netflix 'watch instantly'.  My parents have a subscription and I am poaching it.  We can stream movies through our xbox 360.  W00t!  I have been watching Dr. Who and the State.
My latest creative venture has been collaging.  I have a bunch of magazines from wedding planning so I don't feel bad ripping them up since I don't need them anymore.
My general  goals include being more organized, getting finances under control and settling my apartment.  My crap is still in the garage.  Bleaugh.  I would like to put stuff away, but I don't have anywhere to put it.  I just need my dressers and stuff upstairs.  Three flights can be quite daunting though.  I am paying for the view with more than just money.
